Open SORGO blast chilling system

RAPID COOLING · PRODUCT SAFETY

Quickly through critical temperature ranges – controlled down to the desired core temperature.

SORGO blast chilling systems combine targeted cold air, water showering and mist with individually calculated stainless steel finned-tube coils. The increased surface area delivers high cooling capacity in a confined space; product load, trolley format and desired cooling time determine the project-specific design.

COOLING PROCESSES & OPTIONS

Recirculating air, cooling shower and optional microfine mist.

Every blast chilling system combines intensive recirculating-air cooling with a cooling shower integrated as standard. Optional systems extend cooling methods and cleaning.

Always included

Recirculating-air cooling and cooling shower

Cooling takes place in parallel through powerful, targeted recirculating air and an integrated cooling shower. This removes heat from the product quickly and evenly.

Optional

Automatic cleaning

Automatic cleaning adapted to system geometry is available as an option.

The SORGO blast chilling system offers the following advantages

01Longer shelf life

Critical temperature ranges are passed through quickly and in a controlled manner.

02Low weight loss

Rapid, controlled cooling protects product yield.

03Ready for direct packaging

The desired core temperature is reached without intermediate storage.

04Less space required

Cold storage rooms and additional storage areas can be saved.

Optional

Two-fluid atomising nozzle per loading trolley

The system can optionally be equipped with a special stainless steel 1.4301 two-fluid atomising nozzle per loading trolley. Operating with compressed air and water, it sprays hot, hanging or horizontally placed products with microfine mist. The greatly increased water surface area improves evaporative cooling: heat is removed from the product while water consumption remains low.

COOLING COILS · IN-HOUSE MANUFACTURE

The core thermal component comes directly from SORGO.

SORGO manufactures cooling coils from stainless-steel finned tubes. Sizing and integration are matched to product load and cooling time. The image shows the intensive cooling system, not a steam coil.

01In-house manufacturing

Design, manufacturing and integration from one source – without unnecessary interfaces with external coil suppliers.

02Stainless steel 1.4301

Tubes, fins, headers and distributors are manufactured in hygienic stainless steel and supplied with suitable control valves.

03Refrigerants

Project-specific designs for CO₂, Freon/HFC, glycol, ammonia and other agreed refrigerants.

04Thermal integration

Project-specific design and integration matched to the temperature range, capacity and available energy supply.

Intensive cooling systems have no steam coil. For optional cooking, process heat is supplied by electricity, gas or oil, depending on the configuration. The cooking function uses water injection and steam generation within the process.

Blast chilling

SORGO calculates and manufactures compact stainless steel finned-tube coils to suit the product load, starting temperature and required cooling time.

  • Glycol, Freon or ammonia
  • High cooling capacity in a confined space with hygienic construction
  • Direct coordination with airflow, shower, sensors and controls

SORGO ENGINEERING · PRODUCT QUALITY

Rapid, uniform cooling with the lowest possible weight loss.

01

High air recirculation capacity

Powerful air movement supports short cooling times and protects product yield.

02

Uniform throughout the trolley

Air distribution is designed for comparable conditions at the top, bottom, centre, left and right of the trolley.

03

One fan per trolley position

Each trolley position has its own fan motor with a stainless steel impeller manufactured in-house by SORGO.

04

Easy to maintain

Individual fans can be serviced selectively and replaced individually in multi-trolley systems.

05

Process remains available

If an individual fan fails, functioning trolley positions in a multi-trolley system remain usable.

06

Optional CIP cleaning

One cleaning station can clean several connected systems sequentially in defined sequences. The CIP pipes are not insulated.

INSTALLATION & SYSTEM FLOOR

Three floor configurations – matched to installation and hygiene requirements.

The system floor is designed to suit trolley weight, loading method, building floor and hygiene concept. Our exceptionally robust floor construction withstands the heaviest loads; wheel ruts in the system floor are a thing of the past. All three floor variants can optionally be reinforced for heavy loads. This version is specifically intended for loading by pallet truck or forklift and can be designed for loads of up to 3 tonnes per trolley position.

01

Installation on standard floor

The chamber is installed on a finished production floor with sufficient load-bearing capacity. An entry lip is used or a suitable entry plate manufactured to ensure a safe transition.

Simplest building preparation
02

Recessed and flush with floor level

The system is recessed into an opening in the production floor and precisely levelled using four adjustment screws. The full area beneath the system floor is then filled with fluid concrete. The upper surface of the system floor is flush with the production floor, allowing loading trolleys to be pushed in easily.

Easy entry for heavy trolleys
03

Hygienic floor with underfloor cleaning

A robust system floor with a sealed welded underside stands on adjustable feet in a hygienic tray. Two upward-facing cleaning nozzles specifically rinse the area beneath the system floor.

Maximum hygiene and cleanability

The floor variants apply to single- and multi-trolley systems; load capacity, foundation recess, tray and access are coordinated for the project.Reference illustration IK 3.000 · One stainless steel chamber / one trolley
